Mastering? Mixing? Restoration? A little of each?

Some projects are easier to define than others . This audio was recorded with a single shotgun mic on a boom pole. The audio had some significant balance issues between the guitar and the vocals. There were also a couple of sections with distracting noise from passing cars. In order to remedy this, I split the guitar and vocals into separate stems, rebalanced and remixed them. I used RX to lower the car noise until it was no longer objectionable and then finally mastered the recording, setting final loudness, dynamic range, EQ, etc.

Also, if you’re unaware of what this song is referring to, please visit No Big Bend Wall. The current administration is waiving 31 laws in order to fast track construction of a wall through one of our most wild and remote national parks. It’s complete madness and it is heartbreaking. They are attempting to bulldoze a national treasure which should be preserved and passed down for future generations to experience and enjoy.
